An unknown group has set fire to a state forest land in Mamaduwa area in Vavuniya. The forest was destroyed in the fire.
There had been previous attempts to set this forest on fire and the residents of the area had extinguished it before the fire spread. However, this time the whole forest has completely been consumed by the flames.
The locals say they suspect that a group operating a quarry in the area is behind this incident.
