Jaliya Senaratne transferred: Ajith Rohana to act as Media Spokesman

Former police media spokesman SSP Jaliya Senaratne has been transferred on grounds of disciplinary reasons.

He was removed from the post of Director and Media Spokesperson of the Police Public Relations Division to the Kankesanthurai Division and was appointed as the Personal Assistant to Senior DIG in charge of Northern Province.

Accordingly, Deputy DIG Ajith Rohana, who’s in charge of the Law, Disciplinary Division, has been re-appointed to the vacant position.

Mr. Senaratne was charged with making contradictory statements during the arrest and release of Riyadh Bathiudeen.

State Minister Chamal Rajapaksa also criticized the remarks made by the former Spokesperson.

The State Minister said that the statements made by Mr. JSenaratne will be investigated.
Mr. Senaratne said on 14th April when Riyadh Bathiudeen was arrested, that he was directly involved in the Easter bombings.

But earlier this month, the police said that Riyadh Bathiudeen is released due to lack of evidence to prove his involvement in the case.
