With the abolition of the Audit Service Commission by the 20th amendment the ability to conduct audits on 260 government institutions will be abolished, audit officers flag.
They added that according to the 19th amendment Sri Lanka Audit Service Commission and the National Audit Office were established and all the audit officers were re-recruited from Auditor General’s Department to National Audit Office.
Therefore, they request from the president to establish a methodology to have similar powers and authority instead of the Audit Service Commission. As government institutions were audited by the 19th amendment, many of the financial frauds and corruptions within those institutions were uncovered, they mentioned.
The audit officers further say apart from that, authority to audit 260 companies was given and auditing in government companies for this year was being carried accordingly.
