Sri Lankans in New York face serious troubles amid corona pandemic

Sri Lankans living in New York have been affected by the rapidly spreading coronavirus in the United States.

Several Sri Lankans living in New York said they had to quit their jobs because of the prevailing situation.

A Sri Lankan woman who explained the situation in New York said:

“A large number of Sri Lankans in New York have been embarrassed by the coronavirus.  There are people who cannot report to work because of the virus. Some have quit their jobs already.

People who work at adult care institutions are afraid to go for work because some adults in these care centers were infected with the virus.

Several shops running by Sri Lankans have been closed, I tried to order groceries online. They said that pre-orders will not be accepted until April 18th as orders are full.

In a few days, some will runout of money.  This is a serious problem. The embassy has not send a message yet, about what we have to do.  She said.
