President of the Election Commission Mahinda Deshapriya says that the parliamentary election will be postponed as the election could not be held on April 25 under prevailing conditions.
He also added that the members of election commission had taken this decision due to the prevailing situation.
"Election cannot be held on April 25,even health authorities clear Sri Lanka out of Covid19 red zone tomorrow.The date for the election will be decided according to the control of the COVID-19 and it is not yet clear whether the election will be held in May, June or beyond."He added.
This decision came as the nomination period of the election ended today(19) noon.
