AG orders to arrest Ravi karunanayake and 12 persons

Attorney General Dappula de Livera has ordered the acting IGP to arrest 12 persons including former Minister Ravi Karunanayake after obtaining warrants on them.

AG has direct Acting IGP to arrest 12 persons including former minster Ravi Karunanayake,former Central Bank Governor - Arjun Mahendran,Director of Perpetual Treasuries - Arjun Aloysius,  and Kasun Pulisena, the Chief Executive Officer of Perpetual Treasuries.

The order was made in connection with the Central Bank bond scam.

"According to the inquiries, there is sufficient evidence (reasonable suspicion) to file against the suspects named,in connection with the criminal offenses committed in the bond auction on 29.03.2016 and 31.03.2016." AG states.

Attorney General has instructed IGP to obtain a warrant for arrest all the suspects after reporting to the relevant Magistrate's Court on an appropriate report according to the provisions of the Code of Criminal Procedure Act.

He has also instructed the Attorney General to send copies of statements recorded from the suspects regarding these offenses.
