India successfuly launched the second lunar mission

India has successfully launched its second lunar mission a week after it halted the scheduled blast-off due to a technical snag.

Chandrayaan-2 was launched at 14:43 pm.(09:13 GMT) on Monday from the Sriharikota space station.

The mission, Chandrayaan-2, is worth $ 150 million and is expected to be the first to land at the Moon's South Pole.

It will focus on the lunar surface and perform tasks such as searching for water and minerals and also moonquakes.

If succesful, India will become the fourth country to make a soft landing on the lunar surface. Only the US, China and the former Soviet Union have made a successful landing on the Moon.
