Why President Sirisena went to Tajikistan?

President Maithripala Sirisena left for Tajikistan today(13) to attend the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia.

The President will have bilateral meetings with Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmon.

The summit will be held on 14th and 15th of June in Dushanbe. CICA Summit will be held on 15th June and President Maithreepala Sirisena is scheduled to address it..

This summit was formed on 1992 to ensure peace, security, and stability in Asia. Sri Lanka was a observer member since 2012 and became a member in 2018.

China, Russia,Korea,India,Iran, Iraq, Pakistan, Palestine, Qatar, Egypt, United Arab Emirates, Afghanistan, Tajikistan,and Vietnam are also members of the summit.
