Prevailing windy condition is expected to continue over the island during next few days,Department of Meteorology said in a warning.
Strong gusty winds up to 60 kmph are likely in Northern, Northcentral and North-western provinces and in Trincomalee and Matale districts according to the warning.Fairly strong gusty winds up to 50 kmph are likely over elsewhere of the island.
“Due to the active cloudiness in the Western Sea areas, the possibility for heavy showers/thundershowers and sudden roughness, associated with sudden increase of wind speed (up to 70-80 kmph) in the above sea areas is high.
The sea area off the coast extending from Mannar to Negombo via Puttalam and sea area off the coast extending from Matara to Pottuvil via Hambanthota can be rough at times as the wind speed can increase up to 60 kmph.
